play it! #7: SAY THAT YOU LOVE ME/jay-r, kyla

today.... pushing my still very very sleepy lazy body out of bed and force myself to seize the cold morning........ morning prayers, quick minute stretching , cold shower then go to work .

My (emo) song for today.  While listening, I began to ramble and created this story out of nowhere.

Here's the story.... A girl likes this boy so much eversince she's very young. She was a bit grumpy the day when her mother forced her to wear that princesslike dress BUT it was also the day when she first saw him and was the first time she blushed. However, they seem so impossible to meet since she  knew from the start that they were from opposite ends of a very fine rod. They're both in the circle of a common crowd yet, their world just can't meet .Unless maybe.... a miracle surprise?? - Lea*   (note: Fiction only)

Boy vs Man (reposted)

A boy uses women to build his self-esteem. A man already has it.
A boy likes to "hang out" with a woman he's interested in. A man asks her out.
A boy doesn't make a move until he's sure there's no risk. A man is bold and clear with his intentions.
A boy plays games with a woman. A man has no time for games because they keep him from getting to know the woman.
A boy will become bitter and angry with a woman when she denies him. A man accepts that dating involves risk.
A boy fears and worships women. A man respects and adores them but fears and worships only God.
Boys are cool and indifferent. Men are hot and passionate.

book it! #8 --> Jane Eyre/charlotte bronte

Jane Eyre - Hay naku! One year.... as in!  Took me a year to finish reading this nosebleed-very-hard-to-comprehend-old-english-words book..phew!   Fascinating story though. loved it!!

“Do you think I am an automaton? — a machine without feelings? and can bear to have my morsel of bread snatched from my lips, and my drop of living water dashed from my cup? Do you think, because I am poor, obscure, plain, and little, I am soulless and heartless? You think wrong! — I have as much soul as you — and full as much heart! And if God had gifted me with some beauty and much wealth, I should have made it as hard for you to leave me, as it is now for me to leave you. I am not talking to you now through the medium of custom, conventionalities, nor even of mortal flesh: it is my spirit that addresses your spirit; just as if both had passed through the grave, and we stood at God's feet, equal — as we are!”    page 319

When God's grace perfects our imperfections....

A water bearer had two large pots, one hung on each end of a pole which he carried across his neck.
One of the pots had a crack in it, and while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water.
At the end of the long walk from the stream to the master's house, the cracked pot always arrived only half full.
For two years this went on daily, with the water bearer delivering only one and a half pots full of water to his master's house.
Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments, fulfilled in the design for which it was made.

But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it was unable to accomplish what it had been made to do.

After two years of enduring this bitter shame, the contrite cracked pot spoke to the water bearer one day by the stream, “I am ashamed of myself and I apologize to you.”

“Why are you feeling so guilty, so penitent, so repentant …?” the water bearer asked the sad cracked pot, “Tell me, dear pot, what is it that you are so ashamed of…?”

“I feel sorry that for these past two years I have been able to deliver only half my load because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your master's house. Because of my flaws, you have to do extra work and you don't get full value from your efforts,” the pot said full of remorse.

The water bearer felt sorry for the old cracked pot, and in his compassion he said, “As we return to the master's house, I want you to notice the beautiful flowers along the path.”
Indeed, as they went up the hill, the old cracked pot took notice of the sun warming the beautiful wild flowers on the side of the path, and was consoled somewhat.

But at the end of the trail, the cracked pot still felt remorse, shame and a feeling of guilt because it had leaked out half its water load, and so again the pot apologized to the bearer for its failure.

The bearer said to the cracked pot, “Did you not notice that there were flowers only on your side of the path, and not on the other pot's side…? That is because I have always known about your flaw and I took advantage of it. I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we've walked back from the stream, you've watered them. For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate my master's table. Without you being just the way you are, he would not have this beauty, these lovely flowers, to grace his house.”

Cagayan de Oro : THE MACARTHUR MEMORIAL MARKER

Cagayan de Oro City, my home away from home for two years now. How time flies, yes.
Thought I’ve seen everything around, but when I googled about the “must-see spots in CDO”, reviewed the list...I murmured, “asa mani dapit sa Cagayan????”..... Now I’m decided, I MUST reach each one of them within this year, God willing.  And if not, at least I tried, really tried to wish to visit them all.

By and by, I’ll be posting about these notable spots here in “The City of Golden Friendship”.

First up. THE MACARTHUR MEMORIAL MARKER

The MacArthur Memorial Marker is a landmark at Macabalan Wharf in Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines which also serves as one of the attractions of the city. The wharf where the memorial marker is located was occupied by the American forces during the Philippine-American War after they seized it from the Filipinos in 1900. It was also where General Douglas MacArthur, his family and his staff landed in Mindanao in his route to Australia.

Inside and in the middle of the concrete fenced area is the peaked cap shaped monument. Inside it is a star-shaped plaque which inscribes the biography of the general and other information pertinent to the memorial site. Outside the structure is a tablet inscribing the brief history of Macabalan Wharf. The huge peaked cap is a replica of the service cap of General Douglas MacArthur, and it also serves as the roof of the open structure. It is supported by five columns on a round base. Each of the columns is superimposed with outside facing five-pointed stars which represent the rank of MacArthur. In one of the columns inside the structure is the star-shaped plaque that is placed parallel with one of the stars on the column. Also inside the structure is a replica of the glass-box contained PT 41 boat that was boarded by MacArthur, his family and his staff on their way to Mindanao.

The peaked cap shaped monument is in essence the main and most conspicuous fixture of the place. It is made of fiber glass and steel bars and is 5 meters in height and 8 meters in diameter. In front of the cap's crown is a US coat of arms, and on the visor and on the band are golden oak leaves embellishment.

MacArthur along with his family and staff fled Corregidor Island fortress off the shore of Manila in compliance with the order of President Theodore Roosevelt of the United States. His departure saved him from possible capture by the Japanese who had earlier conquered Bataan where American and Filipino troops converged to defend it from the Japanese.

The general and his companions landed at Macabalan Wharf on March 13, 1942 where American and Filipino soldiers were waiting for them. Amid threat of Japanese detection, he proceeded to Camp Phillips, Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon and stayed at the Del Monte Club House for several days. From the Diclum Airfield a B17 Flying Fortress flew MacArthur, his family and his staff to Australia on March 17, 1942 where he would direct the allied forces in their campaign against the Japanese.

The MacArthur Memorial Marker was inaugurated on March 13, 2008 or on the 66th anniversary of General MacArthur's landing at the Macabalan Wharf. Former Philippine President Fidel V. Ramos led the ceremony. He was joined by former Mayor Constantino Jaraula and other local officials. Others who were present were representatives of the US embassy and the Joint US Advisory Group (JUSMAG) which was represented by Lieutenant Colonel Frederick Riker.

The construction of the memorial marker is a fitting tribute to one of the most famous American generals who distinguished himself as an officer during the American occupation of the Philippines, during the Philippine Commonwealth era, and during the Second World War that resulted to the defeat of the enemy.(source :http://noelautor.hubpages.com/hub/The-MacArthur-Memorial-Marker-of-Cagayan-de-Oro-City-Philippines)
