Looking at the moon,
Brings unspeakable joy.
A place of if-I-could’s and how-I-wish’s
Lots of things in mind.
What’s really in there?
I don’t know.
If I can ask a question,
“Is he staring at you also?”

What is happiness?
My happiness will be your sadness.
Your happiness is my emptiness.
Will I be selfish?
Because you seem not to notice.
Your heartbreak will be my first breath.
How much longer? Forever? I hope not.
Knowing you from ten or so,
Staring at my star is much better to do.
Been waiting to be near,
A place of bliss and drear.
But I know you belong to someone who I wish to be her.

book it! #2 --> The Velveteen Rabbit / margery williams

One of my favorites,

The story of a Velveteen Rabbit, a sawdust-stuffed toy, that was a Christmas present to a little boy. The boy played with him for at least two hours, and then when new presents came, the velveteen rabbit was forgotten. And because of this,  he felt insignificant and commonplace. He never new what it means to be a real rabbit because he haven’t  seen one. He then met Skin Horse, the oldest toy in the house. He wanted to know what and how to be REAL.
(quoted my favorite part)
“What is REAL?”, asked the Rabbit one day. “Does it mean having things that buzz inside you and a stick-out handle?.”
“Real isn’t  how you are made,” said the Skin Horse. “It’s a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real.”
“Does it hurt?”, asked the Rabbit.
“When you are Real you don’t mind being hurt.”, the Skin Horse.
“Does it happen all at once, like being wound up,”  he asked, “or bit by bit?”
“It doesn’t happen all at once. You become. It takes a long time. That is why it doesn’t often happen to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and you eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don’t matter at all, because once you are Real you can’t be ugly, except to people who don’t understand.”

“Once you are Real you can’t become unreal again. It lasts for always.”

He didn’t understand at first. But then one day the boy played with him again. He was made real by the love of the boy.  For the boy, he is a Real Rabbit. And that made him very happy. Weeks passed,  and the little Rabbit grew very old and shabby, but the Boy loved him as much. When you are Real, shabbiness doesn’t matter at all.

Lea : Being real is being loved unconditionally, not for what you are, but because of WHO you really are, inside out.  I didn't have much toys when i was young. I find it amazingly funny, if only toys can talk. What about humans? We and the people around us... need to be REAL too.

august 2011

Why did I say, “yes, it’s him” ,
When what I want to tell is, “no, it’s you”.
Why did I say, “I’m ok.”,
When what I really mean is, “I miss you so”.
Why did I say, “I’m sorry I forget.” ,
When the truth is, “it’s you I always think of”. Now I regret.
Why did I say, it’s “him” that I love ,
When what’s inside shouts, that it’s only “you”.
Why did I say, “goodbye” ,
When my heart cries out, “please don’t go.”

book it! #1 --> Disciplines Of The Beautiful Woman / anne ortlund

God's Kind of Beautiful Woman

Just want to share some excerpts from the book Disciplines of The Beautiful Woman by Anne Ortlund. One good old book I dug from Booksale.

The beautiful woman is disciplined, chaste, discreet, deferring, gracious, controlled, “together.” This kind of woman God considers godly, which means she’s got His qualities, and she’s close to His heart. This is “His kind of woman” – His kind of beautiful woman.

Now, under this umbrella of characteristics, she can have all kinds of personalities and still be beautiful. She can be vivacious or shy, colorful or cool, an administrator or a follower. She can be a corporation president or she can bake delicious molasses cookies – or both.

When a woman has God’s beauty – a meek and quiet spirit -  she isn’t threatening to those around her. She doesn’t compete; she doesn’t “demand her rights”, because she’s secure. Her trust is in God to exalt her in His own way and time, and He does! He can afford to expand her gifts and increase her place in the world, because she’s not grasping for it. That’s God’s kind of beautiful woman.

1 Peter 3:3-4

Amplified Bible (AMP)
3Let not yours be the [merely] external adorning with [elaborate][a] interweaving and knotting of the hair, the wearing of jewelry, or changes of clothes;
4But let it be the inward adorning and beauty of the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible and unfading charm of a gentle and peaceful spirit, which [is not anxious or wrought up, but] is very precious in the sight of God.
